Westborough, MA — Wachusett improved to 10 and 4 on the season with a 5 - 3 win over Groton Dunstable on Wednesday night at NorthStar. Parker Meyer stole the show scoring a hat trick. At 11:57 of the first period, Xavier McManus put Wachusett on the board as he banged in a rebound off of a Cody Penniman shot. Braeden McKenzie also assisted on the goal. Dennis Jardine would put Wachusett up 2-0 on a short handed goal with only 9 seconds to play in the first. Parker Meyer would extend the lead to 3-0 at the 2:46 mark of the 2nd period. Aidan Riley would set him up as Riley forechecked hard in the corner creating a turnover. He fed the puck to Meyer out front who sniped it over the goalie's glove. Jardine was also credited with an assist on the goal. Groton would get on the board just 33 seconds later, but again, Meyer would again keep the Mountaineers ahead by 3 with his second goal of the night just 31 seconds after G-D's goal. This time it was a rebound goal off of a Will Savino shot from the point. Braeden McKenzie would also add an assist. Groton would again pull within 2 at the 8:57 mark of the third, but Meyer would complete his hat trick on the power play at 12:32. Good puck control by Penniman and Jardine would lead to a pass out front where Meyer buried it. With the 10th win, Wachusett will qualify for the State Tournament.
