Irvine, CA — On a cloudy overcast day in Irvine, it appeared gloomy for the Trojans as the Patriots took a commanding 5-0 lead behind starter Zach Ireland. However, the Trojans showed a never say die attitude as reliever Logan Rome shutdown Beckman with 3 scoreless innings. In the sixth, UNI mounted a furious comeback sparked by a lead off hit from pinch hitter Adam Kunin and key doubles from Luke Weston and Austin Barnett. Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th the Trojans capped a spectacular comeback with the tieing run scored by Chase Ngyuen. The game soon ended in controversy as slugger captain Austin Barnett was denied the opportunity to win it due to darkness called in the game with 2 outs and a runner on second. The Trojans though remain in contention for a league title having battled against two of the perennial powerhouses and look forward to the next game.
