Grafton, WI — A cold and windy conference opener saw Port out-slug Grafton for the first win of the season. In the pitcher's circle, the Miller sisters (Savanna and Sierra) combined for 12 critical strikeouts keeping the ball out of play in hitter-friendly conditions with the wind howling out to left field and severe high sky. Our Port hitters continued to show discipline at the plate by going deep in counts and putting the ball in play. Multi-hit games were shared by Sierra, Hope, Emily, Shelby, Savanna, Maggie, and Josie as the team accumulated 20 hits. Most notably, congratulations to Maggie and Sierra for hitting their first career home runs! Once again, the dugout was loud, the fan support was awesome, and the sportsmanship shown for our friendly neighbors was first class. We travel to Slinger Monday. See you there!
