Guyton, GA — The Mustangs home opener did not go as planned, dropping a lopsided game to region opponent Evans 14-0. The boys played hard, but failed to execute on the fundamentals with numerous unforced errors that led to turnovers and penalties. By halftime Evans was up 11-0. The boys came out of halftime with focus and enthusiasm and played hard hitting physical defense, holding Evans scoreless in the third quarter. Evans would tally three more goals in the fourth quarter bringing the final score to 14-0. In the post game conference between coaching staffs the Evans coach was extremely complimentary of the noticeable growth in the program, the number of athletes and the heart and hustle he saw that evening. While disappointed in our execution I was proud of the boys for not giving up and playing every minute of all four quarters with intensity! -Coach Farrell
