Fayetteville, GA — In our season opener against Whitewater (4-A), found ourselves in an early hole after Whitewater was able to control all the first quarter faceoffs which lead to a 8-0 lead. As we found our footing in the second quarter, found some offensive possessions, and made some stops on defense, we were able to slow down the barrage when Deese Miller found the back of the net. Down 11-1 at halftime, we fought harder and came up with more ground balls in the second half. Deese Miller added another score to his tally, and Brooks Costley scored on an assist from Davis Brock before that. Parr Folsom scored the last Blue Devil goal, on his way to a solid defensive performance with several caused turnovers and a few GBs. Net-minders Jack Hicks and Elijah Strong combined to save 13 shots, helping the team find the footing in the second half. As we learn how we can improve, apply those principles, and move on this week in practice, we look forward to our home (and area) opener against North Cobb Christian at BLUE DEVIL FAMILY PARK on Thursday at 6pm.
