San Marino, CA — The Varsity Tigers beat the San Marino Titans in an exciting 8-inning game on Thursday. Nolan Adams was dazzling, surrendering only one run and two hits, the first of which didn't arrive until the sixth inning. The pitcher induced a steady stream of weak ground balls and fly outs, alongside five strikeouts. The game was scoreless until the eighth inning, when Ivan Becerra hit the second of his two doubles. Griffin Johnson singled to left, and the speedy Jude Felix, pinch running for Becerra, scored. Two walks later, the bases were loaded and Quinn Sterling hit a long single to center field, driving in the second run of the inning for the Tigers. The Titans scored one of their own in the bottom of the eighth, but Adams shut the door as South Pasadena moves to 2-0 in league play.
