La Cañada, CA — South Pasadena Varsity Tigers got back to their winning ways on Saturday by beating the La Canada Spartans 4-2. The Tigers were down by one run until the top of the fourth inning when they scored three runs, powered by hits from Jesse Chavez and Elijah Garcia and speed on the basepaths by Nathan Olivarez. In addition to Garcia's 3-hit afternoon, Jon Bracamonte, Griffin Johnson, and Jason Yipp all contributed at the plate. On the mound, Ben Petrillo was solid again, striking out six in five and 2/3 innings. Benjamin Regan came in in relief, shutting the door on the Spartans and earning the save. Four more league games remain with Monrovia and Temple City.
