South Pasadena, CA — The regular season ended on a high note for the Varsity Tigers as they beat Temple City 4-1 to remain tied for the top spot in Rio Hondo. The victory marked a sweep of Temple City and puts the Tigers in a good position as they enter CIF playoff action next week. Ben Petrillo started for South Pasadena, pitching 6.2 innings, striking out nine and only giving up one run. Carlo Maling came in to get the last out. There were nine hits with Luke Riffle, Quinn Stirling, and Jude Felix each getting two apiece. Will Guy, Jason Yipp, and Raphi Hall each hit singles. The class of 2023 dominated the game, which was only fitting since it was Senior Day. The seniors and their families were honored in a ceremony before the game. Come out next week to support the Tigers in the first playoff game! Schedule and opponent will be announced on Monday.
