Middlesex, NJ — Bombers sailed to an easy victory over Middlesex Blue Jays 11-5 on Tuesday. Winning pitcher Jake Romanello was 2-for-3 with a walk, three RBI, two runs and a double as Sayreville defeated Middlesex, 11-5, in Middlesex. Romanello, a junior, struck out seven over 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (two earned), five hits and three walks for Sayreville (2-0), trailed 3-0 before erupting for five runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth Aayush Mehta was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Michael Colonnello went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs, two RBI and a triple. Michael Novak went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two doubles, while Jaydon Stio and AJ Zapoticzny scored two runs apiece. Bombers pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Jake Romanello singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Aayush Mehta singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Michael Novak's sac fly scored two runs for Bombers, and Michael Robinson singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Jack Zapotizcny threw one and two-thirds innings in relief to secure the victory. Bombers racked up ten hits in the game. Mehta, Romanello, and Novak all had multiple hits for Bombers.
