Newcastle, OK — Tuttle Tigers ran off with the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Newcastle Varsity Racers on Tuesday. The game was tied at one with Tuttle Tigers batting in the top of the fifth when Alex Conover homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. The pitching was strong on both sides. Tuttle Tigers pitchers struck out 13, while Newcastle Varsity Racers pitchers sat down ten. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Newcastle Varsity Racers tied things up at one. Landon Eastep drove in one when Eastep singled. Conover toed the rubber for Tuttle Tigers. Conover went six innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out 11. Logan Wade was on the hill for Newcastle Varsity Racers. The bulldog lasted five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out eight. Jackson Schanuel threw two innings out of the bullpen. Tuttle Tigers launched one home run on the day. Conover had a dinger in the fifth inning.
