Westminster, CO — An offensive explosion to start the game led the Spartans to their 2nd straight win. TJ scored 7 runs in the top of the first, thanks to timely hitting and 3 walks. Jesus Flores-Sanchez led the game off with a first pitch single to start the merry go round as the Spartans scored 4 runs before recording their first out of the inning. Standley Lake responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st as Max Feierstein was a bit shaky in his first career start on the mound. But he settled in and shut down the Gators as he went 5 innings, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 8. All 3 first inning runs were unearned, and the Spartans held the Gators scoreless the rest of the game on the way to an 11-3 victory. Mauricio Vivanco-Torres and Owen Roetto both made their first appearances of the season on the mound, each throwing a scoreless inning. Offensively, Jesus Flores-Sanchez and Aiden Benschneider each had a pair of hits, while Benschneider drove in 2 runs, scored 2 runs, and added a stolen base to earn player of the game honors.
