Newport Beach, CA — After getting off to a slow start (1-5 in opening round) our JV team fought back losing 7-11 after 3 rounds at Sage Hill under the lights. We lost 1 tiebreak set and 4 others by the score of 4-6, so this match was actually pretty close. MVP honors to Kenny Perez and Max Chiotis, who were one tie-break short of winning all 3 sets. They fought back from 1-4 to force that tie-breaker vs a very strong #1 doubles team. Andrew Whitehead earned MVP honors by winning 100% of doubles sets played today, 2 sets: one w Nick Barrios in round 1, the other w Alex Gibson, an exciting tie-breaker in round #3. Great job Andrew! Starting at #1 singles spot, HB Warner earned MVP honors by going 2 for 3 this afternoon, losing only to their top singles player in the opening round. Our 7th set win came in round #2 with Luke Krolikowski defeating their #3 player. He then went on to match game for game vs their top player before bowing out 4-6 in a well played final set of the day, very good effort. That rounds out our dual match play for the season. Next up: Trinity League Tournament Wednesday, April 26th at Santa Margarita, all day starting at 11 a.m. w 10 a.m. warmup.
