Costa Mesa, CA — The boys' varsity golf teams from Laguna Beach high school and Newport Harbor high school faced off in a Wave League match at Mesa Linda golf course in Costa Mesa, California. Newport Harbor emerged victorious with a final score of 179 to Laguna Beach's 214. The Mesa Linda golf course proved to be a challenge for Laguna, with its small greens and tricky terrain. Despite the loss, Laguna Beach's players put up a strong fight and continued to improve going into the last few weeks of the season, again posting a new low team score compared to par. Russell Franconi-Krychman and Kiyan Arshadi lead the way for the Breakers with scores of 40. In addition, Preston Towe shot 43, which is his best round of the season. The other scores for Laguna were Chase Tyson (44), Hudson Mills (46), Davis Dix (47), Ranen Seeck (49), and Evan Kretschmer (49). Newport Harbor had strong performances, with all of their players shooting under 40 on the day. They were led by seniors Nick Thayer and Kenny Swanson, who both shot a 2-under par 33.
