Vincent, OH — Marietta Tigers Varsity's effort to come back from down five runs in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 11-9 to Warren High School on Thursday. Marietta Tigers Varsity scored three runs in the failed comeback on a double by Izak Knighton and a home run by Luke Bumgard. Despite the loss, Marietta Tigers Varsity did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Warren High School had seven hits on the way to victory. Warren High School opened up scoring in the first inning when an error scored two runs for Warren High School. Warren High School took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored one run for Warren High School , Cline reached on a dropped third strike, Blair doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Warren High School , and an error scored one run for Warren High School. Marietta Tigers Varsity tallied four runs in the second inning. The rally was led by an error on a ball put in play by Knighton and a double by Cooper Laumann. Sealey was credited with the victory for Warren High School . The bulldog went six innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. Kitts threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Cam Goeller took the loss for Marietta Tigers Varsity. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out three. Marietta Tigers Varsity launched one home run on the day. Bumgard put one out in the seventh inning. Marietta Tigers Varsity collected nine hits. Knighton, Laumann, and Bumgard each had multiple hits for Marietta Tigers Varsity. Bumgard, Laumann, and Knighton all had two hits to lead Marietta Tigers Varsity. Warren High School had seven hits in the game. Blair and Kitts all collected multiple hits for Warren High School .
