Costa Mesa, CA — On a sunny day at the Mesa Linda golf course in Costa Mesa, California, the boys' varsity golf teams from Laguna Beach high school and Corona Del Mar high school competed in a Sunset Conference cross-league match. Ultimately, Corona Del Mar emerged victorious, finishing with a score of 184 to Laguna Beach's 224. While both teams performed well on the course, Corona Del Mar is a top-tier Division 1 team and the Breakers weren't able to keep pace with one of the best teams in Orange County. Despite the loss, Laguna Beach's players fought hard throughout the match and posted a team-low score for the season. The team was led by junior, Russell Franconi-Krychman, who finished with a 6-over par 41. Juniors, Davis Dix and Ranen Seeck also delivered solid performances, with both players finishing with a score of 45. Other players contributing to the team score included juniors Chase Tyson with a 46, and Evan Kretschmer, who shot 47. The remaining scores for Laguna included Kiyan Arshadi (48) and Hudson Mills (52). Overall, the Breaker's players are continuing to improve and lower their scores each week with good decision-making and course management.
