Weatherford, OK — Tuttle Tigers took the lead late and defeated Elgin Owls Varsity 12-9 on Saturday. The game was tied at six with Tuttle Tigers batting in the top of the fourth when Ashton Bennight grounded out, scoring two runs. Braylon Brooks collected four hits in four at bats to help lead Tuttle Tigers to victory. Brooks tripled in the first, doubled in the second, singled in the fourth, and tripled in the fifth. Tuttle Tigers got things started in the first inning when Brooks tripled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. In the bottom of the second inning, Elgin Owls Varsity tied things up at six when James Vanderpool doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Tuttle Tigers pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. Elgin Owls Varsity scored four runs in the second inning. Elgin Owls Varsity's big inning was driven by doubles by Tres Lorah and Vanderpool. Alex Conover was credited with the victory for Tuttle Tigers. Conover went one and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Grayson Barnes and Jackson Johnson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Grady Thomas was on the hill for Elgin Owls Varsity. The righthander allowed eight hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out two and walking zero. Damien Callagy threw two innings out of the bullpen. Bennight started the game for Tuttle Tigers. Bennight allowed four hits and six runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three Tuttle Tigers hit one home run on the day. Easton Green went for the long ball in the first inning. Tuttle Tigers tallied 12 hits. Brooks, Carsen Moore, and Conover each had multiple hits for Tuttle Tigers. Brooks led Tuttle Tigers with four hits in four at bats. Elgin Owls Varsity scattered nine hits in the game. Callagy, Ritson Meyer, and Vanderpool all collected multiple hits for Elgin Owls Varsity.
