Grand Rapids, MI — The offense was fired up in game two scoring 14 runs on 14 hits with four innings with multiple runs scored. SVSU took the lead in the first and never looked back. With two outs, Colin Cornwell singled, Schweiger reached on a throwing error, and both moved into scoring position for Martin Money. He drove both in with a single giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. They extended that lead in the next inning with two more runs. Connor Cornwell walked and McClennen replaced him on the base paths with a fielder's choice. Roe doubled home McClennen before Watkins singled him home to make it 4-0. Both teams scored a run in the third. For SVSU, Connor Cornwell singled to right to score Scheurer. The Panthers got one back with a solo home run in the bottom half bringing the score to 5-1 SVSU. Davenport tallied another run in the fourth and the fifth off Cardinal starter Ryan Adams (W, 2-2). He notched five innings of work with three runs, two earned, against while striking out six batters. Panthers starter Devon Nettles (L, 0-1) gave up the first five runs on seven hits in his three innings of work. SVSU scored another run in the fifth when Watkins walked with the bases loaded to score Ethan Dufresne. The lead was pushed to four runs in the seventh with a Roe RBI single before another run for DU in the bottom of the inning to make it 7-4. The one run against SVSU came off of Nolan Knauf who pitched two innings in relief striking out one and walking one. The last two innings were all SVSU. Reed Raymond shut down the bats on the mound allowing one hit in two innings of work while the offense kept scoring. In the eighth, Colin Cornwell scored on a wild pitch and Scheurer doubled home Money pushing the lead to five. The biggest offensive inning was the ninth when Saginaw Valley scored five runs. A Money RBI single scored Watkins, Schweiger scored on a passed ball, Brady Carpenter scored on a wild pitch, and Connor Cornwell singled home both Scheurer and Dufresne bringing the game to the final score of 14-4. Both Money and Scheurer finished the day going 5-for-9. Scheurer scored four runs while Money recorded four RBI. Connor Cornwell went 2-for-5 in game two with three RBI as well.
