Caledonia, MI — The Caledonia Fighting Scots defeated East Kentwood Varsity Falcons 9-3 on Tuesday thanks to a timely eight runs in a big fourth inning. Nick Slater, Derek Pennington, Mitchell Smith, Tommy Clarey, and Corbin Raffler all drove in runs in the frame. East Kentwood Varsity Falcons fired up the offense in the first inning by doubling in a run to take the lead. Caledonia would trail 2-0 after two innings, but the Fighting Scots pulled away for good with eight runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Slater singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, an error scored one run for the Scots, Smith tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs, Clarey singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Raffler singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Aaron Hileman got the win for Cal. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out ten and walking one. Smith threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
