Rancho Cucamonga, CA — We had a very special game on Saturday......it would have been great if all Ram fans would have had a chance to be part of it. Under very difficult circumstances, our guys bonded together and put together quite possibly the best performance in school history. All players put on a show and energized the people that were in attendance. Against a very athletic, and above average Summit team, your Rams put up 110 points (55 in each half) and won by 39 points. Senior Lamar Wright broke the school scoring record by registering 38 points on 13/20 shooting and 12/16 from the FT line. He also had 10 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists, and 7 blocked shots. His brother Shamar was not to be outdone as he scored 27 points to go along with 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocked shots. The two of them were only half of the story though as the entire team played at peak level and made play after play that left us all amazed. Shamar Wright received recognition as an All Tournament member for the 2nd consecutive tournament. It is my opinion that we easily could have had a 2nd member on the team in Gio Sanders who turned in 5 consecutive strong games and really led our team throughout. When we are playing well, you usually will find Gio producing at a high level. While we strive to win every game, we have accomplished goal #1 of the season....I said with the difficulty of our schedule, I would be please if we won 7 of the first 10 games. While we got to that 7-3 mark in a different way than I imagined, we did it! We now have a few days this week that we can get in the gym and practice a little and refocus on a few of the basics that tend to slip away when you play so many games in a row. I am pleased with where this team is right now. There is definite room for improvement but we are also in a good place. Hope to see many of you tomorrow night at Elsinore High School where all 3 of our teams will travel across town to play the Tigers. (3:30/5:00/6:30) Thanks to everyone for their tremendous support through these first few weeks of the season!
