Highland, CA — The Hemet Dogs showed the Thunderbirds of Yucaipa what playing with heart is all about. Starting strong and scoring in the first 5 minutes the dogs were off to a better start this time around. Dawson Powers got the early lead. Falling 2-1 before the half the boys went into the second half looking to make a statement. Down 3-1 the dogs answered quickly with a goal from freshmen Ben Uribe to put his name on the scoring pool for Hemet. Falling 4-2 the dogs never gave up and answered with two goals back to back. To make it 3-4 freshmen Ricardo Perez assisted Gavin Renteria with a cross that set him up for a header. Beto Recendez assisted freshmen Josh Zavala to make it 4-4. At the end of regulation both teams went to penalties were the Hemet dogs lost 4(4)-4(5). The boys showed heart and determination and left it all in the field.
