La Habra, CA — It was Homecoming on Friday night as your Sonora Raiders hosted the visiting Fullerton Indians, and it didn't take long for the fireworks to begin as the two teams took the field. Following a quick three-and-out, Sonora got the scoring started following a long drive, capped by a 17-yard touchdown run by Senior Running Back Nicholas Fernandez. Fullerton quickly countered with a score of their own, and the slugfest was underway. Sonora scored six times throughout the course of the game, including two rushing touchdowns from Junior Running Back Anthony Abad, two rushing touchdowns from Senior Running Back Nicholas Fernandez, and two passing touchdowns from Senior Quarterback Landon Martin to Senior Running Back Tyler Robertson, and Junior Tight End Brady Ackerman. Martin also finished the night 5 for 5 on PAT attempts, and had a successful 2 point conversion run. Abad finished the night with 221 rushing yards, and Martin finished the night going 11-15 for 157 yards through the air. Fullerton scored five times throughout the course of the game, and it looked as though they would even the score late in the fourth quarter as their offense drove the field. The Raiders defense came up with a huge stop, on a forced fumble caused by Junior OL/DL Mike Lozano, which was then recovered by Junior DL Isaiah Porch. The Raider defense forced the only turnover of the game, and the offense was quickly back out on the field to take a knee and celebrate the victory. Overall, Sonora has improved to 7-1 on the 2023 season, and moves to 3-0 in league, tied for first place. Fullerton falls to 2-6 on the year, and 0-3 in league play. Sonora hosts Troy (5-3, 3-0) in a battle for first place on this upcoming Friday night at 7PM. We will see you there! #OurWay #RaiderPride
