Anaheim, CA — First off, thank you PARENT drivers for helping us take a full squad up to Anaheim this afternoon. I think the attendance record for parents and fans pretty much matched the final score….3 OLu moms vs approx 15 JSerra parents and siblings. You R-O-C -K !!! We only have 7 formal MVP spots in the Blast format, so we’ll honor those who won 2 or more sets today…… …….However, because of the lopsided score at the end of round 1, we sub’d generously and took some starters out who obviously would have won all their sets had they played more: Kinsley Moore and Alex Marsh in singles, and Arina Marsh with Riley Godber in doubles - great opening day of Trinity League play. Bree Johnson, playing line #2 singles in rounds # 2 & 3, defeated their #3 player 6-4, and then matched their #1 player game for game to 4-4 before bowing out 4-6. Very good effort. Similarly, Maya Stroupe and Aurora Moore went in at line #2 doubles, defeated their #3 team 6-3 and then took their top doubles team to a 5-5 tie, before coming up short in a long tie-breaker. We’ll played! Line 1 doubles swept all 3 sets with the trio of Abby Godber, Kate Layk and Christina Nama each winning 2 sets taking turns playing with both the others, all earning MVP status. MVP’rs Chiara Manta and Peyton Salas took care of the Lancers top doubles team 6-3 in round 2, after winning opening round 6-2. Nice effort today. Playing singles, GG Fernandez won both matches easily on court 1 in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of play to earn MVP for the day. Kudos to MVP Elliana Castro who actually played 3 times today beating all 3 of OLu’s starting singles players. Great job Elliana. Next up: JV vs Mater Dei at home, 2:45pm on Tuesday, Sept. 26th.
