Fountain Valley, CA — Although outmatched in singles, getting no set wins, there were some tough play today. Alex Marsh played their #1 player for over an hour before losing the tie-breaker….this against the top player in the Trinity League. Kinsley Moore played well in the opening round in a 3-6 loss that was closer than the score depicted. Great effort by Bry Noorian subbing in round 3 and refusing to give up…. That singles tie-breaker loss plus two 5-7 losses in doubles could have put this match at 8-10. Needless to say, we played much better in this rematch than the previous outing. All 5 set wins came in doubles. After losing a tough opening round set against the Monarchs top doubles team, Arina Wagner and Abby Godber won back to back sets 6-1, 6-4 for MVP honors today. Same for Peyton Salas and Kate Layk…. After a slow start in round 1, they played some great tennis beating that top doubles team in round 2, and another win in round 3 for MVP honors. Our final set win came from Christina Nama and Elliana Castro, who beat their #2 doubles team 7-6 (14-12) in an exciting tie-breaker. Then they came very close to beating the top doubles team 5-7 :( in the last set of the day. Unofficial MVP honors to the Nama’s for over-the-top snacks today, especially w plenty of sports drinks and water. Thank you! Next up: Santa Margarita, Tuesday, Oct. 17th, 3pm at JSerra.
