Palm Springs, CA — The Indians traveled to Xavier Prep to face their 4th foe in the Desert Empire League of the season on Wednesday, September 27. Unfortunately, they were bested by the Saints, losing 4 to 14. In singles, Madison Barrick won two hard-fought sets, 6-4 and 7-5 - the last coming after all other sets had wrapped up with the Xavier Prep team sniffing a final set win. With some stellar winners, Madison not only beat her opponent in that set but the rest of the Xavier team who were attempting to unduly influence the outcome of the match with some questionable sportsmanship and "creative" scoring. Also winning for the Indians in doubles were the team of Paloma Castaneda and Naomi Bote (6-3) and Kendyl Na Val and Henley Hemstreet (6-0). The loss puts the Indians at 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Desert Empire League. Their next opponent is Palm Desert at Palm Desert High School on Monday, October 2. The match is scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m. Go Indians!
