Palm Springs, CA — The Palm Springs High School Lady Indians bested the Shadow Hills High School Lady Knights in a close game by a score of 10-8. Winning sets for the Indians were posted by the doubles teams of Samantha Rojas and Yazmin Aispuro (3 sets), Julia Fidel and Alexia Carreno (3 sets) and Paloma Castaneda and Naomi Bote (2 sets). In singles action, Madison Barrick won two sets. The game came down to the final set of the final round with the entire match on the line. With all other play concluded, Julia Fidel and Alexia Carreno went into a tiebreaker game with the score in the set locked at 6-6. If the Indians had lost the set, they would have lost the match, but Fidel and Carreno dug deep and won the tiebreaker by a score of 7-2. The win puts the Indians at 4-4 overall with a league score of 4-3. They close out the season with matches against La Quinta, Xavier Prep, and Palm Desert. The next game is away at La Quinta High School to face the Lady Blackhawks with a possible playoff spot if the Indians win. The match starts at 3:15 p.m.
