Palm Springs, CA — In their last team match of the season, the Palm Springs Lady Indians lost to the Palm Desert Aztecs by a score of 4-14. The match was also the final home match for the team on the Palm Springs High School tennis courts and the final match as high school players for the six seniors on the team. It was also the final game for coach Goehring as coach of girl's tennis for 12 seasons. Leading the Indians was Madison Barrick who won two sets 6-1 and 6-4. Also winning a set in singles action was Isabel Sesma who returned from an injury and won one set 6-2. In doubles, the only win came from the Yazmin Aispuro and Samantha Rojas, who won their set 6-4. The Lady Indians close out their season with a 4-7 overall record and a 4-6 record in the Desert Empire League. This puts the Indians in 4th place out of the 6-team league, which eliminated them from postseason contention as the top 3 teams advance to the playoffs. The Lady Indians will compete as individuals in the Desert Empire League Individual Tournament at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells on Tuesday, October 24.
