Vista, CA — The Vista Longhorns dropped a 19-0 decision to the Rancho Hill Titans Blue (RHTB) on Saturday afternoon in Vista, CA. Although the Horns fought, the Titans running game was hard to contain. The young Vista squad was uncharacteristically undisciplined and made a number of crucial mistakes of the pre-snap variety. Those mistakes made it difficult for the Longhorn offense to find any rhythm on the afternoon. The first quarter ended 0-0 and the consensus was that the fans would be the beneficiaries of a classic defensive battle between 2 fairly equal teams. In the 2nd quarter the Titans double wing offense capitalized on the lapse in the Vista defense to take a 6-0 lead. Vista's offense moved the ball reasonably well, but an illegal procedure call against Vista turned a manageable 3rd and 4 into a more difficult 3 and 9, which Vista failed to convert. Vista punted to RHTB and was able to down the ball inside of the 5-yard line in the waning minutes of the half. But Vista had to burn 2 earlier timeouts due to some alignment issues. Not having those timeouts available proved to be costly to the young club as RHTB was able to run out the clock and escape the half unscathed with a 6-0 lead The Titans tacked on 2 addition scores in the 2nd half to control the pace of the game, thwarting all of Vista's advances. The Horns will try to regroup in a week time against the Silver Raiders of Poway (1-4), who are coming off of their first win of the season. The Longhorns stand at 2-3 on the season and will probably need a win against Poway to have any thoughts of being a playoff team this season. Your Longhorn Beat Reporter, Deeh Nice .
