Vista, CA — The Vista Longhorns played fast and efficient in defeating the Silver Raiders 38-6 on a rainy afternoon in Vista. The Longhorns turned four 1st half drives into points to secure its first home win of the season. The Horns were the superior team. Against a prideful but outmanned Poway team, Vista had drives of 74, 68, 59 and 47 yards which enabled the Longhorns to build a 32-6 half-time lead. The 47-yard drive was a two-play drive which included a 43-yard touchdown pass to a blanketed Vista receiver. Poway's only points of the game came early in the 2nd quarter when the Silver Raiders were able to return a Vista kick-off 87 yards for a touchdown. Outside of that single play, Poway never threatened the Horns. To begin the 3rd quarter, Vista returned the kick-off 91 yards to close out the scoring. The lead allowed the Horns to get some of the younger players additional game time in preparation for a hopeful playoff run. Next week Vista will travel to Ramona to play the always tough Bulldogs who sit at 4-2 on the season. The Longhorns will have to play their most complete game of the year to find success against a quality opponent. Time will tell if they are up to the task ahead. Your Longhorn Reporter, Deeh Nice
