Caledonia, MI — The Fighting Scots lost a heart-breaking effort in overtime against a very talented Lowell team on Friday by the score of 51-49. The pace of the game was slow in the first half as the Fighting Scots took a 15-12 lead into halftime. Both teams were struggling to find a rhythm. However, the pace picked up significantly in the second half as both teams executed at an increased rate. Caledonia led 28-24 at the end of the third quarter and that is where the game of runs began. The Scots took an 11 point lead midway through the 4th quarter after a quick 8-0 run, but Lowell responded with a run of their own and tied the game at the end of regulation, forcing overtime. Near the end of the final period, Cal advanced the ball the length of the floor and hit what appeared to be a game-tying basket as time expired, but it was ruled after the horn by the officials, which resulted in a two-point overtime loss. Caledonia had a balanced scoring attack led by Kathryn Langenburg with 12 points. Mackenzie Devries added nine, Teresa Abraham eight, Lily Gortmaker seven, and Addie Roe and Lakely Bottum each chipped in with six points. Teresa led the team with 10 rebounds.
