Caledonia, MI — The Scots earned their first OK Red victory of the season with a solid all-around performance. Cal got off to a great start despite leaving a few shots short in the first quarter and held Jenison to only two made FT’s for an 8-2 lead. The team caught fire in the second half as Lily Gortmaker scored 14 points in the second period (including two 3-point shots) to help Cal to a 25-11 advantage at the break. Jenison came back in the third period and trimmed the lead to nine going into the 4th quarter, but Caledonia showed some grit and toughness as they extended their lead to a 48-37 victory in the end. Lily Gortmaker had her best game of the season with 25 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Her hustle, energy, and focus set the tone for the team and it was evident that the entire squad was focused and locked in with great energy throughout the contest. Jolie King added six points and six rebounds. Mackenzie Devries added eight points, three assists, and three rebounds. Lakely Bottum totaled six blocked shots in the contest.
