Massillon, OH — The bears took down a very tough Smithville team with a final score of 44-34. The bears started strong, going up 15-7 after the first quarter. The bears held a 23-16 halftime lead and weathered a hot shooting three point third quarter from the Smithies. The game was all tied up at 28-28 to start the fourth quarter. The bears then went on a 10-0 run and eventually closed out the game to secure their first win of the season. Maddie Lepley led the bears with a career high 16 points. Megan Campbell packed the stat sheet with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists 3 steals. Ashley Lahmers had an incredible defensive effort and added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals. Emily Rofe and Ashley Helle both added big fourth quarter 3’s! We are back in action on Wednesday at home for our first Federal League game vs McKinley.
