Grayslake, IL — The Zee-Bees fell in their first contest of the year 9-4 to Grayslake North. The Bees captured the lead in the top of the 3rd 3-1 after Brayden Duran singled, Michael Gonzalez singled, and Andrew Mitchell hit into a fielder's choice, scoring 3 runs. The Knights recaptured the lead in the bottom of the inning, hitting 2 home runs, and never relinquished the lead. The Zee-Bees fought back, putting up 1 more run in the top of the sixth when AJ Neargarder singled in courtesy runner Ivan Jones. Neargarder took the loss on the mound, throwing 3 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits, striking out 5, and walking 1. Ryan Dunne pitched one inning of scoreless relief. The Zee-Bees return to action tomorrow traveling to Niles North to take on the Vikings at 4:45 pm.
