Zion, IL — The Zee-Bees battled until the end but the Wheeling Wildcats pulled away late in an 8-7 victory on Saturday. Both teams exchanged the lead back and forth in the game, but the Wildcats took the lead for good in the 7th inning. The Zee-Bees started the scoring when Rafael Villalobos Jr. doubled in a run. The Bees added to their lead in the 2nd after Kaden Oatsvall doubled, and Dominic Diliberti walked, each scoring a run. The Zee-Bees retook the lead in the bottom of the third. Jack Marabella hit into a double play, but one run scored to give the Bees a 4-3 advantage. Oatsvall singled in the bottom of the fifth to drive in two runs, tying the game at 6 runs apiece. The Bees took their final lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth when a passed ball scored AJ Neargarder. The Wildcats took the lead from the Bees in the top of the 7th after a walk and an error. Ryan Duane took the tough luck loss for the Bees. Dunne went two innings allowing one earned run on zero hits, striking out four and walking four. Villalobos Jr. started the game for the Zee-Bees. He allowed nine hits and three earned runs over five innings, striking out seven. The Bees bats came alive in the tough luck loss. Oatsvall led the Zee-Bees with three RBI's, going two for three on the day. Villalobos Jr. & AJ Neargarder each collected two hits for the Bees. Sam Villarreal led the Bees with three walks, with Brayden Duran, Andrew Mitchell, & Jack Marabella each getting a hit. The Zee-Bees return to action next Wednesday against the Harvard Hornets.
