Waukegan, IL — Rafael Villalobos Jr. was dominant on the hill, as the starting pitcher rang up 10 strikeouts in the Zee-Bee's 8-4 victory over Waukegan under the lights at Bowen Park. Villalobos Jr. threw a complete game, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs, while walking only 3. Mikey Gonzalez put the Bees on the board in the first inning, singling home Jaxon Zaugra. Zaugra was running for Dominic Diliberti who led the game off with a walk. The Bees gave Waukegan a run on an error in the bottom of the 2nd inning, tying the game. The Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd. However, the Zee-Bees battled back and regained the lead in the top of the fifth. Dominik Leith and Dominic Diliberti walked, leading to a pitching change for Waukegan. Brayden Duran walked after the change, bringing Villalobos Jr. up. Dominik Leith scored on a wild pitch, bringing the Bees within one. Villalobos Jr. then singled on a pop fly to short right field, scoring Jaxon Zaugra (running for Diliberti) and moving Duran to third. Waukegan committed a throwing error on the play, advancing Villalobos Jr to second and scoring Duran to give the Zee-Bees a 4-3 lead that they would not relinquish. Mikey Gonzalez would reach base on a fielder's choice. He would later add to the Bee's total when Jack Marabella reached on an error, making the score 5-3. The Zee-Bees would add to the score in the top of the 6th when Dominik Leith reached on an error, Dominic Diliberti walked, and Brayden Duran reached on an error. This led Waukegan to bring the infield in without an out. Rafael Villalobos Jr. again came up big for the Zee-Bees with a 2 strike single up the middle, scoring Dominik Leith and Jaxon Zaugra (running for Diliberti). Mikey Gonzalez would add to his RBI total for the game later in the inning, hitting a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Duran from 3rd. Waukegan would try to mount a comeback in the 7th, scoring a run, but Villalobos Jr. would strike out the final batter he would face, giving the Zee-Bees an 8-4 victory. Villalobos Jr would lead the Zee-Bees with three RBI's and Dominic Diliberti led the Bees with 3 walks. Kaden Oatsvall would also reach base two times with a hit and an hit by pitch. Brayden Duran would provide one of the highlight plays of the night, throwing out a runner at home attempting to tag up from 3rd base. The Zee-Bees return to action next week, traveling to Stevenson on Monday.
