San Juan Capistrano, CA — Friday night the Varsity team faced their toughest battle of the season so far against the Los Alamitos Griffins. The Griffins came out strong on both sides of the field securing an early lead, locking down Lions offense in Q2 and breaking through the defensive line. Into the half, Lions were down 5-2. The energy shifted quickly in Q3. The Lions offense adjusted, found openings on the perimeter and dominated the Griffins with every possession putting 8 goals on the board. Meanwhile defense was a force, holding the Griffins to just 1 goal throughout the entire 2nd half. Zimmer, Stephens and Kitcher (welcome back from injury Graham) were crucial with turnovers and ground balls. Final score, Lions with the 10-6 win.
