Pigeon, MI — Cass City Red Hawks Varsity's effort to come back from down five runs in the third inning came up just short, as they fell 7-6 to Lakers on Monday at Elkton-Pigeon Bay Port School. Cass City Red Hawks Varsity closed the gap by scoring on a single, a double, and a tag up. Cass City Red Hawks Varsity got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lakers committed an error, and Garrett Reinke walked, each scoring one run. In the top of the second inning, Lakers went back into the lead after Kade singled, Kade scored after tagging up, and Dustin Richmond hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. A fielder's choice by Dayton Lesoski, and a single by Grant Buchzolt helped Lakers extend their early lead in the third. Lucas Wehner earned the win for Lakers. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and three runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking four. Carter Patrick pitched four innings in relief for Cass City Red Hawks Varsity. The southpaw surrendered six hits and five runs (four earned) while, striking out three and walking two.
