Galesburg, IL — Tuesday’s game with Washington was in front of a good crowd. The combination of the crowd and two very good teams playing, it was very much like a post season atmosphere. The teams battled to a 20-18 Streaks lead at half-time. Kiarra Kilgore sliced the Washington defense to score 22 of Galesburg’s first 26 points. Then in the third quarter Alexis Edgerson took over the scoring, the finished the game with 10 points. The game was 32-29 entering the fourth quarter. And not to be outdone, Antonia Kisler came up big in the fourth quarter, including a huge three which rounded out her 9 points for the game. The Streaks outscored Washington 11-4 in the fourth, on the way to the 43-33 win. The Streaks got outside inside defense from Syriah Boyd who pulled down 8 rebounds. Alexis Edgerson, held Washington’s all-state guard to just 5 points. Ella and Taylor Herchenroder combined for 4 assists on just 2 total turnovers. The game pushed the Streaks to 6-0 on season, and dropped perennial power, Washington to 4-1. At present in Maxprep ratings, the Streaks are #9 in 3A power ratings. Next up for the Streaks will be always tough Moline at Thiel Gym on Thursday at 5:30/7pm.
