Scotia, NY — Logan McNeal drove in four runs on two hits and Christopher Puliafico pitched a complete game (with 3 hits himself) to lead Burnt Hills past Scotia 14-1 on Thursday at Scotia-Glenville High School. The Spartans scored eight runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. McNeal doubled, scoring one run, Ricky Nicklas singled, scoring one run, Mason McDonald singled, scoring one run, Timothy Venditti doubled, scoring two runs, Puliafico drew a walk, scoring one run, and Hayden Sladewski induced McNeal to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored. Burnt Hills opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three singles. The Spartans first got on the board when McNeal singled, scoring one run. They then added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Puliafico singled, and McNeal grounded out, each scoring one run. Puliafico earned the win for Burnt Hills. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and one run over six innings, striking out seven and walking three. Ryan Allen took the loss for the Tartans. The righty went one inning, surrendering four runs on four hits, striking out one and walking none. Burnt Hills amassed 19 hits in the game. Puliafico, Nicklas, and McDonald each collected three hits. Ben Yerina, Venditti, and Matt Martin each collected multiple hits. Venditti stole two bases and the team stole five bases in the game. The Spartans turned one double play in the game. Nick Padone set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Scotia with two hits in two at bats. Next up for Burnt Hills is a game against the Albany Falcons on Friday.
