Valatie, NY — The Burnt Hills Spartans fell 5-4 to Ichabod Crane on Tuesday at Ichabod Crane High School despite out-hitting them 10 to six. Logan McNeal and Timothy Venditti each collected two hits for the Spartans. Burnt Hills opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles. The Spartans first got on the board when Atticus Marvin singled, scoring one run. Chase Morrison singled, which helped Ichabod Crane tie the game at four in the bottom of the seventh. Tyler Van Allen earned the win for Ichabod Crane. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Christopher Puliafico stepped on the hill first for the Spartans. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and three runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Brady Holzhauer stepped on the mound first for the Riders. The starting pitcher surrendered 10 hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. The Riders won the game in the bottom of the eighth and n a sacrifice bunt that turned into a walk off error. Burnt Hills piled up 10 hits in the game. Hunter Rauhauser, Silas Marvin, Matt Martin, and Marvin each drove in one run. Max Frering led Ichabod Crane with two hits in three at bats. Holzhauer, Kyle Bartlett, Van Allen, and Morrison each drove in one run. Ichabod Crane Varsity Riders didn't commit a single error in the field. Frering had the most chances in the field with nine. Burnt Hills plays at home on Wednesday against Guilderland in their next game.
