Burnt Hills, NY — It came down to the wire on Monday, as BHBL JV Baseball grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 8-7, over the Ballston Spa Scotties. Burnt Hills were down 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Tucker Sunkes doubled, scoring two runs. BHBL got on the board in the first inning after Sam Pezzolesi singled, scoring one run. Ballston Spa captured the lead back, 2-1, in the top of the third after Adam Nagengast doubled, and Doug Chamberlain hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Burnt Hills scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Anthony Canarelli was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Cooper Houghton singled, scoring two runs, Arthur Bowcutt singled, scoring one run, and Jake Muller drew a walk, scoring one run. Pezzolesi earned the win for the Spartans, giving up two hits and two runs (zero earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Edward Acheta-Gonzalez took the loss for the Scotties. The left-handed pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering two runs on one hit, striking out four and walking three. Charlie Venditti started on the hill for the Spartans. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs over four and walking three. Curtis Evans started the game for the Scotties. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking none. Houghton and Sunkes each drove in two runs for Burnt Hills. Pezzolesi went 2-4 at the plate to lead BHBL in hits. The BHBL JV Baseball team will travel to Columbia for their next game on Tuesday.
