Guilderland, NY — BHBL JV Spartans got out to an 8-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for an 11-10 victory over Guilderland on Wednesday. Guilderland closed the gap by scoring on two errors, two walks, a fielder's choice, two singles and a double. Burnt Hills collected eight hits and Guilderland had nine in the high scoring affair. A single by Anthony Canarelli put Burnt Hills on the board in the top of the second. A sacrifice fly by Jake Buller with a tag-up by Tucker Sunkes helped them extend their early lead in the third. Guilderland flipped the game on it's head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 9-8 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single that drove in two. BHBL made the score 11-9 in the top of the seventh after Arthur Bowcutt doubled, scoring two runs, and sunkes tripled, scoring one run. Bowcutt earned the win for BHBL. The reliever allowed three hits and one run over one 1.1 innings of work. He struck out two and did not surrender a walk. Charlie Venditti stepped on the bump first for Burnt Hills. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and four runs (zero earned) over five innings, while striking out one and walking five. Karl LaFountain appeared in relief for BHBL as well. Bowcutt and Muller each drove in two runs for Burnt Hills. Josh Darcy led the Spartans with two hits in four at bats. Eli Rosendo paced BHBL with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Jake Muller led the team with 3 stolen bases.
