NY — Tucker Sunkes collected three hits in four at bats on Friday, as BHBL JV Spartan Baseball defeated Albany 12-2. Sunkes hit a solo home run to center field in the seventh inning, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth to lead the Spartans. The Spartans scored nine runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. Adam Yerina, Anthony Canarelli, Sunkes all had RBI base hits, while Eli Rosendo and Sam Pezzolesi drew in runs by being hit by a pitch and drawing a walk, respectively. Three more runs crossed the plate for the Spartans in the seventh to extend the lead to 12-2. Sunkes hit a solo shot over the center field wall, and Jake Muller singled, driving in two more. Klopfer earned the win for BHBL. The righty allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Sunkes threw two innings of no-run ball for the Spartans in relief. The righty surrendered three hits, striking out four and walking one. BHBL amassed 15 hits in the game. Klopfer seized on his opportunities, leading BHBL with three RBI's from the seven hole in the lineup. The pitcher went 1-4 on the day. Yerina Pezzolesi, and Canarelli each collected multiple hits for the Spartans. Rosendo and Sunkes each stole multiple bases as the Spartans ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven for the game. BHBL Spartan JV Baseball hosts Shenendehowa on Monday for their next game.
