Broadalbin, NY — Eli Rosendo collected three hits in four at bats, as the BHBL JV Spartans defeated Broadalbin-Perth JV Patriots 12-4 on Tuesday at Broadalbin-Perth High School. Rosendo doubled in the first inning, singled in the third, and singled in the sixth. BHBL got on the board in the first inning after Rosendo doubled, scoring two runs. A ground out to the right side of the infield by Jake Muller extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the second. Then The Spartans expanded their early lead in the top of the third inning after Anthony Canarelli singled, and Broadalbin committed an error in the outfield, each scoring two more runs. Charlie Venditti earned the win for the Spartans on the mound. The right-handed pitcher allowed three hits and four runs (three earned) over three and two-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Cooper Houghton tossed three and one-third innings of scoreless ball for BHBL in relief. The righty gave up one hit, striking out five and walking two. BHBL amassed 11 hits on the game. Canarelli led the Spartans with four runs batted in. The first-baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Venditti and Tucker Sunkes each collected multiple hits for the Spartans. Rosendo and Sam pezzolesi each stole multiple bases, leading the team effort that amassed 10 stolen bases in the game. BHBL JV Spartans will travel to Colonie for their next game one Wednesday (weather permitting).
