San Juan Capistrano, CA — JV netters snatched victory right out of the jaws (or beaks) of defeat, winning the last 4 sets for a 10-8 win. Had we tied 9-9, we would have lost by 1 game on game count. Our team mantra today, with disregard to what we all learned in Kindergarten, was: “We’re not going to share”….. the Trinity League title that is. Co-league champs doesn’t look good on a trophy or T-shirt, just sayin’. After taking a 4-2 lead, we got spanked in round 2, evening the running match total to 6-6. And we were tied on game count too going into the final round. SM won the first 2 sets of the 3rd round, taking a late lead: 8-6, with only 4 sets left. Our top 2 doubles teams, all MVP’s for the day (Jacob + Lucas, Michael + Robert) won their final sets, evening the score 8-8. A 9-9 tie would cause us to lose by 1 game, so we needed both the remaining singles sets. However, HB was down 1-4 and Kayden was down 1-5! HB Warner first (7-5) putting us up 9-8 and shortly thereafter, Kayden Kral broke serve to force a tie-breaker, which he won 7-3. Great play by all involved. We’ll be seeing a bunch of these guys back at our league tournament soon, it should be a very good tournament. Thank you parents, grandparents and others for your great fan support. You R-O-C-K !! Next up: vs Servite at Fullerton Tennis Center, April 18th, 2:30pm.
