West Springfield, MA — After an hour and 15 minute freezing cold bus ride, Wachusett came out and peppered the Minnechaug goaltender with 38 shots en route to a 6 to 1 road victory. Although the play was predominantly in the Minnechaug end, the Falcons would get on the scoreboard first on a nice rebound goal at the 7:48 mark of the 1st period. Sophomore Travis Laidlaw would tie the game at the 10:16 mark of the first assisted by another sophomore Caden Lane. The game would enter the first intermission tied at 1. Junior Matt Bjorkman would put Wachusett up for good at the 4:20 mark of the second on a nice cross-net feed from Parker Meyer. Cody Penniman also assisted on the goal. Laidlaw netted his second of the night with only 1 second to play in the second period as he stuffed home a rebound. Senior defenseman Nick Brousseau made a great play to keep the puck in at the point and fire the puck back down low. Ryan Flaherty swiped at it as well before Laidlaw poked it home. The team was outstanding in the 3rd period outshooting Minnechaug 18 to 2 in the frame. Parker Meyer scored at 5:18 tipping home a Nick Brousseau shot from the point. Cody Penniman also assisted on the goal. Cody would follow up with a goal at 10:17 assisted by linemates Bjorkman and Meyer. Junior Tanner Watkins would close out the scoring on a nice feed out front from Matt Brousseau. Stone Lane also assisted on the goal. Sophomore Trevor Staiti remained undefeated in net for Wachusett stopping 16 shots in the win and improving to 5 and 0. With the win, the team is only one win away from a post-season berth.
