Santa Ana, CA — JV Prep reversed an earlier loss by defeating the Knights on their courts 11-7 in an all doubles format this afternoon. We dominated the “lower half of the draw” winning 7 of 9 sets played amongst lines 4,5, & 6. This “speaks” to both the depth and improvement this squad has made over the last 11 weeks. Our line #4 team: Micah VerBurg and Noah Lau who went 3 for 3 to earn MVP honors; including an opening round tie breaker win 6-5 (13-11 tb) which took 1 hour 15 minutes! Kudos to Robbie Watson who earned MVP honors winning both of his sets played, one with Declan Hughes, another with Robert Schweitzer at line #3. Gianni Rossetti and Santiago Jimenez went 2 for 3 at line #5, playing and communicating well this afternoon. The “top half of the draw” was a bit leaner. All 3 teams: Stirling McLaughlin w Zach Moncur, Nick Benham w Anson Albertson, and Jack Straub w Omar Ali defeated their line 3 team. Jack and Omar were able to beat their #2 team 6-5 (7-3 tb) - great job guys. Next up: this Saturday at home vs Aliso Niguel, 1pm (12:30 warmup).
