Brawley, CA — Cibola shot itself in the foot too many times to be able to win at Brawley on Friday. The Raiders fell 35-25 after a couple of penalties came back to haunt the team. At one instance Cibola drove the length of the field down to the one-yard line, only for three penalties to keep points off of the board. The Raiders trailed 28-25 at this point, and that left the go-ahead points out there. Senior quarterback Ethan Arvizo had a touchdown run called back on a holding call. "We made some little mistakes, and when you play a good team it usually comes down to the team that makes the least mistakes," Cibola coach Lucky Arvizo said. "We made mistakes and that was the outcome." Brawley scouted the Raiders' aerial attack from early in the season and stopped the passing game from taking over again. Cibola had to do most of its work on the ground behind the legs of Zeke Rios, who finished with 175 yards and three touchdowns, kept his team in the game. "They stayed back to cover the pass. We had some success running the ball," coach Arvizo said. Cibola (2-3) will be back on Friday Sept. 28 at home against Copper Canyon.
