South Pasadena, CA — South Pasadena Frosh/Soph Tigers took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Monrovia Freshman Wildcats. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh when Julian Barnes hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. South Pasadena Frosh/Soph Tigers pitchers struck out five, while Monrovia Freshman Wildcats sat down eight. South Pasadena Frosh/Soph Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Barnes grounded out, and they scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Kory How led things off on the bump for the South Pasadena Frosh/Soph Tigers. The righty allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Ishan Trachtenberg and Anthony Ortiz each came on in relief for the Tigers and shutdown the Wildcats. Number seven hitter, Cameron Kiser, showed the depth of the Tiger lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Barnes provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Tigers with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. The Tigers turned one double play in the game. The South Pasadena Frosh/Soph Tigers will travel to La Habra for their next game on Tuesday.
