Fairfield, CA — Vanden Vikings fell 3-1 to River City on Saturday despite out hitting them six to four. The pitching was strong on both sides. River City struck out eight, while Vanden’s sat down 11. River City got on the board in the top of the second inning Nate Petz was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Bryce Sabatke singled, scoring two runs. Nick Rodriguez earned the win for River City. Joseph “JoJo” Torres pitched four innings of relief for Vanden and did not allow a run. Alex Maushart took the loss going two innings allowing three runs on two hits, striking out six and walking two. Maushart went 1-2 at the plate as the pitcher and led the team with one run batted in. Jack Tranchina led the offense with two hits while Kekoa Grinton, Isaiah Shahan, Mariano Gonzalez collected hits. Vanden will travel to Roseville on Thursday at 3:30
