Fairfield, CA — Vanden Vikings took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Christian Brothers. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when Bryce Alcantara double, scoring one run. Vanden built a 4 run lead in the first inning and then held off Christian Brother's charge. Christian Brothers closed the gap by scoring on a double, a single, and a home run. Vanden flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 5-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Alcantara that drove in one. Christian Brothers took the lead, but Alcantara hit into a double play, which helped Vanden tie the game at six in the bottom of the fifth. Joseph "JoJo" Torres earned the win for Vanden. The reliever surrendered just two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out none and walking none. Rhyan Solomon-King pitched three innings in relief for Vanden. The reliever allowed four hits and three runs, while striking out five and walking none. Alex Maushart started on the mound and allowed four hits and three runs over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Alcantara provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Vanden with two runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day. Maushart and Alcantara each collected two hits. Collectively Vanden had a total of six walks and only struck out once. Vanden plays at home on Wednesday against Laguna Creek in their next game.
